About Your Photographer

Hi! My name is Ellery Ruth Sawatzky and I’m so thrilled you decided to check out my page! I’m a lifestyle photographer located in the Niagara Region in Ontario, Canada. I’ve been doing photography as a hobby since 2019 and in June 2026 I officially graduated and got my photographer’s degree from the photography program at Niagara College with Honours and the Board of Governors award.

I specialize in weddings, engagements, maternity, family, couple, and pet photography while also doing product photography, creative portraiture, and headshots on the side. Although I don’t offer sellable nature photography photos, I still love to capture God’s beautiful creation any chance I can get! My approach focuses on authentic moments and natural connection, capturing candid interactions, and the quiet details that tell each client’s personal story. I prioritize relaxed direction and soft natural light to create images that feel true to life. Whether documenting a wedding day, a growing family, or a couple’s journey, I aim to deliver thoughtful, emotive photographs you’ll want to relive for years to come.

My interest in photography started when I was 13 on a family camping trip when my cousin brought his camera along and showed me the basics. A year later, I took my first photo using my dad's camera, and after watching him edit photos and videos for my family, I became really interested in the creative side of photography. I ended up taking a video media course in high school where I continued to build my skills in editing. That experience helped me realize that photography was something I wanted to pursue after graduation.

Lighting is a huge part of how photos look. I love working with warm light and happy tones that reflect important milestones. To me, warm lighting and tones make an image more moody and sentimental, which fits with my specializations. I love to work in all seasons, although summer and fall seasons are my favourite to shoot in because of how much those tones pop out and make the photo stand out.

On the bottom of this page, you’ll see some of my older photos I have taken between 2020-2025. Since graduating college and looking back on my older work, I can really see a strong improvement. My style of photography has changed quite a bit, from angles and posing all the way to editing styles.

As someone who is just starting out in my business, I am still building my portfolio one step at a time. Every booking and session helps get me to where I plan on being in my business!
